One Card Sketch, Two Different Cards

Thursday, January 28, 2021

Hello there!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I'm sharing two cards I made using a simple to follow card sketch/layout. I love the versatility of the sketch, it can be used with almost any stamps and paper! This sketch was shared by Erica Cerwin of Pink Buckaroo Designs at a recent Online Convention I participated in. When things are busy or stressful (which they can often be around here), it's hard to find the creative mojo. I will often look for other projects on Pinterest or Instagram for inspiration for layout, colours...sometimes I'll outright copy the card! It's called CASE-ing (Copy and Selectively Edit). I definitely did some of that with these projects.

Here are the cards:

Since we're in the midst of our awesome Saleabration Promotion, I wanted to showcase products that can be earned for free until February 28th. I chose the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper, Flower and Field Designer Series Paper and Darling Donkeys stamp set. I've shared measurements below, in case you'd like to give this layout a try! My first card was inspired by Gillybean Crafting...she did the cutest donkey card, I just changed up the colours and paper patterns a bit.

Can we just take a moment to talk about this sweet donkey? I just love his adorable face and the way his head is slightly tilted to the side. It seems perfect for the sentiment 'hey there, friend', which is a part of the Darling Donkeys set. To make this card, I stamped the donkey in Memento Ink and coloured it in with my Gray Granite and Ivory Stampin' Blends. I used the Flower and Field Designer Series paper on this card. Both the paper and stamp set can be selected as free items with any $60 order during Saleabration. I finished off the card with some sequins and black and white twine.

You can see for this card above, i've used the same layout, but with a different set of papers and products. I used the Paper Blooms Designer Series Paper, another product that can be selected for free with any $60 order. I used the In Bloom Bundle with this card, it actually is meant to coordinate with the paper. I just love Stampin' Up!'s coordination of products, totally takes the guess work out of crafting for me! This card was inspired by Cindy Schuster, I saw a card she had done on Instagram with this set of products and fell in love! I also used a blending brush (brand new product) to apply a light shading of ink to the white circle and then used a Stampin' Blend to create a splatter effect. You can see how I did this in the video below.

Here are the measurements for the sketch:
  • Card Base: 4 1/4 x 11", scored at 5 1/2"
  • Cardstock layer: 3 3/4" x 5"
  • DSP (2 different pieces): 3 1/2 x 2 3/4", 3 1/2 x 2"
  • Cardstock strips (x3): 4" x 1/4"
  • circle or square for stamping (or whichever shape you prefer)
  • layering circle or square (optional)
Here's the video replay of the Facebook Live where I stamped these cards:
